Very useful for development, QA as well as for stakeholders/data engineers to verify work. We installed the extension, then clicked on it in the extensions bar. The tag manager page opened and asked for us to pop in a domain. I really appreciated that my local dev environment was able to be entered and tracked. Once the tag manager had launched a new tab with my environment in it, I could click around and engage in our site and ensure that data we were tracking was being reported by clicking ... Show more

As i don't see any other way for reporting bugs: We used to debug our GTM in the iframe with this chrome plugin being enabled. For debugging we just opened the parent page and the iframe showed up. For a week now this doesn't work anymore. For the iframe-gtm we do get an error message "tag not found". I tried the legacy plugin: Tag Assistant Legacy (by Google) and here we can debug the iframe as we used to. Please have a look at this. I really liked the new tag assistant companion plugin.

This extension gets 1 star from other reviewers because they're confused about what it does. It's probably Google's fault for naming it "tag assistant companion" which is way too similar to the extension it replaces, which worked in a very different way. If you use Google Tag Manager this extension simply makes "preview" or debug mode more powerful. That's what it does. It's a behind-the-scenes extension and it isn't meant to be "clicked on" as the legacy tag assistant was.
