Speed Dial 2 New tab

Speed Dial 2 has been a very useful extension. I have shared it with my colleagues and we leverage it frequently. Currently, my only issues is that when I open a new tab I am asked to backup my configuration (I regularly export and import the xml file anyway). The first time I was prompted, I clicked the button and backed up my bookmarks; however, after a restart (browser/machine, I'm not sure) I am being asked again to back up my configuration with no option to use the new tab until I do. ... I LOVE this extension, been using it for years. Today, however, I opened my browser to ads!? Why take something beautiful, something that works so well, and throw it into the trash pile with all the other apps and extensions that are out to make a quick buck? When added to the fact that people (like me) who paid for a premium plan got downgraded in the last 6 months to 'Legacy' status, it doesn't look good for this extension.
