It doesn't fully work as you'd expect. The seller you buy from must be IN THE Rakuten button program to even give us our percent back. Otherwise just stick to using the Rakuten page as a portal to login to your shopping sites. Customer service is a pain to deal with as not all online orders send us confirmation emails. I've been using ebates then Rakuten for many purchases, including Amazon for a few years now without issue. All but one of my transactions were correctly captured and they readily dealt with the one that fell through the cracks by a single email. Today was the first time I've encountered problems. Rakuten was applying coupon codes to godaddy.ca and there's something in the workflow where it doesn't retain a coupon after it's been applied. I really very strongly like Rakuten. (I preferred the former name, Ebates). How can anyone complain about free money? I have had a couple of instances where the rebate for some reason did not apply, and that was sad and annoying, but I am hoping that the company is merely working through some glitches associated with renaming and expansion. If not for those errors, I definitely would have rated Rakuten with five stars.
