What is Overleaf textarea

This plugin is a browser extension that displays text in a textarea for spellcheck purposes, allowing the use of plugins like Grammarly

It enables spellchecking in Overleaf, which is limited in its native functionality

The extension facilitates the use of dedicated tools such as Grammarly by copying the content of the file visible in the editor, filtering commands/keywords, and pasting the plain text in a textarea

The textarea is displayed over the pdf preview, allowing for spellchecking in complex editors like Overleaf

Changes made to the textarea by extensions or users are evaluated and merged back to the editor

Great plugin, does what it says. It's a bit rough around the edges. Some latex commands are not removed and other times the plugin removes too much. But that doesn't affect the original latex text itself so the impact is only positive. I do wish that when accepting a change just the word is updated rather than the whole line. If track changes is on, then a whole paragraph will be shown as edited when just one word was changed.

I usually never write reviews, but this extension is a life saver. I have spent so much time copying my latex code into word removing commands and then copying into Grammarly and then having to cross-compare. Which is tedious work at best, and at worst lead to additional mistakes. This plugin is amazing. 10/10, would recommend.

This is fantastic! Thank you for doing what neither Grammarly nor Overleaf were capable of. A simple and elegant solution. NOTE: If you install the extension with Overleaf already open, you will have to refresh the Overleaf page to get this extension working. Not the developers fault and takes 3s to do.
