I have had OneNote, well, it seems like forever. In fact, it's safe to say that I have had access since this product was first introduced to the market. There were a few times where I made a half-hearted attempt to even use it, but for one reason or another, it never happened. But today, it's an entirely different story. I've foolishly spent thousands of dollars exploring the entire note taking landscape (it was quite fun oddly).
The most surprising realization to me has been that OneNOTE is fairly obviously the best note taking application - many thanks to the development team and to the godsend of a plugin: Onemark adding that sorely missing markdown support.
It is time to stop wandering people, OneNote is it - it is what you were looking for.
